Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about working with vetted tutors who send a written report after every session.
Getting Started
How do I get started as a parent?
Create a parent account in a few minutes. Add your children, browse vetted tutors by subject and availability, and book your first session with secure checkout.
How do I get started as a tutor?
Apply with your background and subjects. After a structured review you can set your own rates, publish availability, and begin receiving bookings from families.
For Parents
What happens after each tutoring session?
The tutor writes a short, specific report the same day. You will see exactly what was covered, how your child did, and any follow-up recommendations right in your dashboard.
Can I switch tutors if the fit is not right?
Yes. Most families find a great match quickly, but we will help you switch if the first few sessions are not working.
How many sessions per week are typical?
Most families book 2–3 sessions per week on TutorMe. Research shows frequent, consistent tutoring aligned with classroom work produces the largest learning gains. When booking, you can choose a weekly series (up to 8 weeks at the same time) or book a single session and schedule more later.
For Tutors
What tools do I get as a tutor?
You receive a full-featured video room built into the platform, scheduling and availability tools, automatic reminders, and automatic payouts. No extra subscriptions for video or scheduling tools required.
How do payouts work?
Families pay a 50% deposit before each session. The balance is charged when you submit your session report; your payout is transferred at the same time.
Do I have to accept every booking request?
You control your calendar and rates. Families can only book open slots you have published. When a parent books, the session is confirmed automatically if payment succeeds.
Sessions, Reports & Safety
Are the video sessions recorded?
No. TutorMe does not record live sessions. All video stays inside the platform and is not saved after the session ends.
How do you vet tutors?
Every tutor goes through a review of subject knowledge, communication, and background. Only approved tutors appear in search. Parents see reviews and credentials before booking.
Is student data private and secure?
Yes. The platform uses strong encryption for video and data. Reports and materials are stored securely and only accessible to the family and assigned tutor.
Research & effectiveness
How much tutoring do students actually need to see results?
Research consistently points to high dosage: at least three 30–60 minute sessions per week sustained over 8–12+ weeks. Lower frequency still helps, but the largest gains (often 2× or more annual learning) appear in the high-dosage studies.
Does live online tutoring work as well as in-person?
In-person has the strongest evidence base, but well-implemented live virtual tutoring with a consistent human tutor shows promising comparable results, especially when combined with high-quality materials and strong relationships. That is the model TutorMe uses.
Which subjects and ages benefit most?
Strongest evidence is in elementary reading/literacy and K-12 math. Gains appear across ages, though some of the largest effect sizes come from early intervention and targeted high-school math recovery programs.
How does TutorMe ensure tutor quality?
All tutors go through a structured vetting process. Parents see detailed profiles, verified subjects, rates, and real reviews before booking. Every completed session produces a written report so progress is visible and tutors are accountable.
Will tutoring replace school or just add more homework?
High-quality tutoring is most effective when it is supplemental and explicitly aligned with classroom content. It is not a replacement for school or generic homework help. It accelerates mastery of what is already being taught.
Are the big learning gains guaranteed for every student?
No individual guarantee exists, as with any educational intervention. The published numbers are rigorous averages from randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses. Results depend heavily on dosage, tutor-student fit, and consistency — all factors families control on TutorMe.
